About the role

The John Flynn College is seeking an experienced permanent part time Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join our vibrant team in Douglas, QLD. This role will involve maintaining the grounds and facilities of our college campus to the highest standards.

What you'll be doing

  • Perform general grounds keeping duties including mowing, edging, weeding, and maintaining garden beds

  • Undertake basic maintenance and repairs to college buildings, fixtures, and fittings

  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and machinery are well-maintained and in good working order

  • Assist with the set-up and pack-down of college events and functions as required

  • Contribute to a safe and tidy campus environment for students, staff, and visitors

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in a similar grounds keeping or maintenance role, ideally in an educational or institutional setting

  • Minimum 1-2 years of grounds keeping or maintenance experience

  • Basic handyman skills and the ability to undertake minor repairs and maintenance tasks

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • A current driver's licence

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Australian work rights are required for this position
