Due to an internal promotion, we’re seeking a safety‑focused, confident, and outgoing individual who values strong relationships and understands the importance of fostering a safe and collaborative site environment.
Reporting to the HSE Superintendent, you will be based at our Paget office, with weekly travel to sites across the Bowen Basin. You’ll play a pivotal role as the primary safety contact on‑site, working closely with the CHPP Manager and the broader operational team.
Duties include:
HSE:
- Assist internal clients with investigating significant events and managing hazardous substances and dangerous goods.
- Coach frontline employees on key HSE topics including JSOs, risk management, fitness for work, and safety management plans.
- Travel to sites to deliver HSE initiatives and conduct hazard identification and risk assessments as required.
HSE Management Systems:
- Ensure sites comply with OH&S and environmental legislative requirements, including implementing new or updated regulations and maintaining Safety and Environmental Management Plans.
- Conduct audits on processes, systems, and equipment, ensuring corrective actions are appropriate, implemented, and closed out.
- Support site rehabilitation and workers' compensation processes in collaboration with internal clients.
Event Reporting & Injury Management:
- Ensure timely reporting and investigation of events in line with site and company procedures.
- Review and close out corrective actions, ensuring effectiveness, and assist with incident investigations, including ICAM where required.
- Provide Return‑to‑Work Coordination (RRTWC) services for sites.
Compliance, Monitoring & Auditing:
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Sedgman’s HSEQ management system.
- Monitor regulatory compliance and carry out site inspections, observations, and audit activities.
- Support the delivery of Sedgman’s high safety and compliance standards through ongoing monitoring.
Who are you?

Experience: 2–3 years in Mining, Coal Processing, Crushing, or Heavy Industry, with exposure to or knowledge of environmental management practices.

Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience using Microsoft Office and cloud‑based platforms such as Synergy or Chemwatch.

Certifications: Cert IV OHS, Cert IV Trainer/Assessor, ICAM Incident Investigation.

Essential: Current driver’s licence and flexibility for regular travel.

Desirable: HLTAID011 First Aid, Low Voltage Rescue & CPR, Workplace Rehabilitation/Return‑to‑Work Coordination.
