This opportunity is based at Middlemount Mine, an open-cut operation located approximately 90km north-east of Emerald and just 7km from Middlemount township.

As a Leading Hand Diesel Fitter, you will oversee and participate in the maintenance and repair of heavy earthmoving equipment in a busy mining workshop environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supervising maintenance crews
- Component replacement and overhauls
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Preventative maintenance (PM servicing)
- Breakdown repairs and general maintenance
- Daily servicing, inspections and refuelling
- Ensuring repairs are completed safely, on time and within budget
- Driving a strong, procedure-based safety culture
About You:
To succeed in this position, you will have:
- Trade qualification – Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter or Plant Mechanic
- Post-trade mining experience
- Previous experience in a Leading Hand or supervisory role (highly desirable)
- Experience working on heavy earthmoving equipment
- Current QLD Driver Licence
- Current Standard 11 & Coal Board Medical (or willingness to obtain)
- S1223/G189 supervisor qualification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong safety focus and leadership capability
