Heritage Minerals is progressing the redevelopment of the Mount Morgan mine through a disciplined, safety-first tailings reprocessing operation. As we continue to strengthen our operational capability, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Supervisor to support safe production and ensure compliance across the Mount Morgan Project.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, the Safety Supervisor will provide visible leadership in health and safety, partnering with operational teams to embed critical risk controls, drive hazard identification and reporting, and maintain compliance with Queensland mining legislation and site standards. This role is pivotal in fostering a strong safety culture, conducting field-based assurance activities, facilitating incident investigations, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across site.

Key Accountabilities 

Safety Leadership and Culture 

  • Act as a visible safety leader onsite, promoting a strong safety culture and consistent adherence to Heritage Minerals’ safety values. 

  • Coach and mentor supervisors and employees on safe work practices, hazard identification and risk management 

  • Support implementation of safety initiatives, campaigns and continuous improvement programs. 

Compliance and Assurance 

  • Ensure site activities comply with Queensland mining legislation, regulations, codes of practice and Heritage Minerals’ Health and Safety Management System. 

  • Conduct regular workplace inspections, safety observations and audits, ensuring findings are documented and actions closed out. 

  • Verify compliance with Safe Work Method Statements and Job Hazard Analyses, permits and critical controls. 

Risk Management 

  • Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments and critical risk reviews across operational areas. 

  • Monitor the effectiveness of controls and escalate emerging or unmanaged risks to the Health and Safety Superintendent 

  • Participate in management of change processes to ensure safety risks are identified and controlled prior to implementation. 

Incident Management 

  • Lead or support incident reporting, investigation and root cause analysis in accordance with site procedures. 

  • Ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented and verified for effectiveness. 

  • Support reporting of incidents, near misses and hazards, encouraging timesly and accurate reporting. 

Training and Competency 

  • Support delivery and verification of safety inductions, toolbox talks and task-specific safety training. 

  • Assist in monitoring workforce competencies, licences and authorisations relevant to site activities. 

  • Provide guidance to supervisors on safety-critical role requirements and refresher training needs. 

Contractor and Interface Management 

  • Monitor contractor safety performance and compliance with stie safety systems. 

  • Participate in contractor onboarding, pre-starts and safety meetings as required. 

  • Ensure alignment between contractor and site safety expectations. 

Reporting and Administration 

  • Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports and incident documentation. 

  • Prepare safety reports, trend analyses and performance data for review by site leadership. 

  • Contribute to statutory reporting requirements as directed by the Health and Safety Superintendent. 

Qualifications and Experience 

Essential 

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) 

  • Demonstrated experience in a Safety Supervisor of Safety Advisor role within mining, resources or heavy industry. 

  • Strong working knowledge of Queensland mining health and safety legislation. 

  • Experience conducting inspections, audits and incident investigations. 

  • Current drivers’ licence. 

Desirable 

  • Previous experience on metalliferous mining or rehabilitation projects. 

  • ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training 

  • Training and assessment (TAE) qualification.
