PP0039 Procurement Officer Temporary Full Time | 30 March 2026 – 5 March 2027 Paget Depot Overview An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Procurement Officer to join Mackay Regional Council on a temporary full-time basis until 05 March 2027. Based at the Paget Depot, this role plays a key part in delivering efficient, compliant and value-for-money procurement outcomes that support Council’s operations. About This Opportunity In this role, you will support Mackay Regional Council’s procurement function by delivering compliant, efficient and value-for-money procurement outcomes across Council operations. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will apply best practice procurement principles within a local government framework. Key Responsibilities Include Coordinating and administering end-to-end procurement activities using Council’s procurement, contract management and financial management systems, ensuring alignment with Council policies and legislative requirements. Supporting tendering, quotation and contract processes, including preparation of documentation, evaluation coordination and contract establishment within Council systems. Providing practical procurement advice to internal stakeholders to support informed purchasing decisions and ensure compliance with Council governance and probity requirements. Maintaining accurate and auditable procurement records, registers and documentation in accordance with Council record-keeping standards. Assisting with supplier engagement activities and supporting effective contract administration throughout the contract lifecycle. Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function to enhance systems, processes and compliance outcomes. Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills Demonstrated experience in a procurement or purchasing role, preferably within a large or complex organisation. Sound knowledge of procurement principles, contracts and compliance requirements. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. High-level written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in relevant systems, software and Microsoft Office applications. Why work for Mackay Regional Council?
