Learn & Grow OT are a paediatric occupational therapy service providing private, mobile services to the Mackay region.
As we continue to expand, we are seeking a warm, organised and motivated person to join our small team in a unique hybrid role combining Allied Health Assistant (Level 2) support and administrative/bookkeeping tasks.
This position requires both community allied health assistant duties working with our occupational therapists and comprehensive bookkeeping responsibilities as part of the hybrid role structure.
This role would suit someone who enjoys both working with children and families as well as behind-the-scenes organisation and systems that help a mobile therapy practice run smoothly.
Employment type is flexible and negotiable, and we welcome applications from those seeking part-time or casual work.
This is a varied role with two key components:
Allied Health Assistant (1–2 days per week)
Implementing Occupational Therapy programs developed by the OT
Supporting children to practise therapy skills in schools, homes and community settings
Travelling independently to appointments across the local area
Liaising professionally with teachers, parents and support staff
Recording brief session notes and feedback for the supervising OT
Assisting with preparation of therapy resources and materials
Administration & Bookkeeping (up to 10 hours per week)
General administrative support for the practice
Managing emails and assisting with appointment coordination
Preparing and sending invoices and statements
Assisting with NDIS claims and funding processes
Maintaining and updating NDIS service agreements and participant care plans
Supporting compliance with NDIS documentation requirements
Data entry and record management
Supporting bookkeeping tasks using QuickBooks Online (QBO)
Basic spreadsheet management and tracking
Assisting with updating and maintaining the company website (e.g., small content updates, service information)
We are looking for someone who is:
Friendly, patient and confident working with children and families
Highly organised and reliable
Comfortable using technology and learning new systems
Able to manage both practical and administrative tasks
A proactive team member who enjoys contributing to a small business environment
Applicants must have:
Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (or currently working towards it)
Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or ability to obtain
Current driver’s licence
Basic skills using spreadsheets and digital systems
Ability to obtain or hold a NDIS Worker Screening Check
Ability to complete the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
Ability to pass a police background check
Understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality
The following would be viewed favourably:
Experience working in paediatrics
Experience supporting neurodivergent children
Previous allied health assistant experience
Experience with NDIS administration
Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) or other bookkeeping software
Allied Health Assistant: 1–2 days per week
Administration/Bookkeeping: Up to 10 hours per week
Employment type: Flexible/negotiable
Pay: $35–$50 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
