About us:Welcome to the Emergency Department — where no two days (or minutes!) are ever the same. This fast-paced, high-energy environment cares for both adults and kids, with 25 acute treatment spaces, 3 resus bays ready for action, dedicated triage and Queensland Ambulance Service assessment zones, plus a Fast-Track area to keep things moving for less urgent cases. There's also a 12-bed Short Stay Unit to support patients who need a little extra time and care.
With around 140 patients walking (and wheeling!) through the doors every 24 hours, the team manages everything from everyday emergencies to complex, critical and trauma cases. As a key referral centre for Central Queensland, the ED works closely with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) to deliver high-level care to a culturally diverse community — making a real difference when it matters most.
About the role:As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you'll be right in the heart of the action — delivering safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care when it matters most. You'll lead with confidence, supporting and supervising Enrolled Nurses and nursing students while fostering a positive, learning-focused environment. With sharp clinical judgement, you'll recognise and respond to deteriorating patients, staying calm under pressure and ready for anything. And because ED never stands still, you'll also play an active role in quality improvement and research — helping shape better outcomes for every patient who comes through the doors.
