Role details The Mackay Base Hospital Community Health and Therapy Services is seeking applications for a Allied Health Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis. Your opportunity To work as a member of a trans-disciplinary team, delivering clinical services to consumers of Community Health and Therapy Services (CHATS) within the Mackay Hospital and Health Services, covering a range of clinical conditions, complexity and age groups.To operate within a delegation model of care by participating in supervision and training in the use of delegated clinical tasks. The position reports operationally to the CHATS Team Leader. The team provide clinical care in person, via tele-heath and outreach throughout the Mackay Hospital and Health Service. In certain circumstances overnight accommodation may be necessary.To contribute to consumer care by providing clinical support tasks delegated under the direct or indirect supervision of an Allied Health Professional (Dietitian, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Psychologist, Social Worker and Speech Pathologist).To assist the Allied Health Professional with clinical, administrative, telehealth and customer service processes and the maintenance and management of equipment and supplies. About The Team Community Health and Therapy Services (CHATS) is a high performing team that plays a vital role in the continuum of care for consumers at discharge from acute care, through to returning home. CHATS encompasses 3 primary service streams: Transition Care Program (TCP), Community Based Rehabilitation Team (CBRT), and Commonwealth Home Support Programs (CHSP). We strive to help consumers live well in their community by providing specialised rehabilitation and short-term episodic care. Our consumer population is adults, including geriatrics and neurological conditions (Stroke, brain injury, Functional Neurological Disorder, Motor Neuron Disease, Parkinson's Disease). These services are delivered through a trans-disciplinary approach, which can include medical, nursing (including specialist continence), occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, psychology, speech pathology, dietetics, healthcare assistants and personal care workers. About Our Hospital And Health Service Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
