An AO4 Assessment Officer is required for a 2-month temporary assignment with the possibility for extension.

Your new role 
In this role, you’ll work across a variety of building‑related matters, applying legislation and policy to reach clear, defensible outcomes. You’ll engage directly with homeowners and licensees both in person and over the phone, providing clear and strong guidance and written advice.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Analysing and assessing building disputes, licencing applications, insurance claims and compliance matters.
  • Making fair, evidence‑based decisions that align with legislation, policy and procedural requirements.
  • Communicating clearly with homeowners, licensees and stakeholders, including preparing accurate written advice.
  • Providing face‑to‑face customer service to support customers through regulatory and legislative processes.
  • Educating stakeholders on their rights, responsibilities and emerging industry issues.
  • Building constructive relationships that promote professionalism, compliance and safe construction practices.
What you'll need to succeed 
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to support a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Well‑developed critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities to make sound, evidence‑based decisions.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in analysis, documentation and communication.
  • Confidence in managing cases or disputes, with the ability to prioritise and progress matters efficiently.
  • Capacity to work autonomously while contributing positively to team goals.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information in a practical and approachable way.
  • A professional, adaptable and solutions‑focused approach when working with customers and industry participants.

This is a Monday – Friday position, with a general spread of hours between 8am–4pm, working 36.25 hours per week.
