In the role of Project Manager (Structures), you will project manage the delivery of assigned civil infrastructure activities, such as construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, and preconstruction projects. You will undertake estimating, tendering & bid management activities and provide operational management of civil construction works for structures. Manage assigned infrastructure projects through delivery of contracts for internal and external customers and ensure that all quality, environment, safety, traffic, procurement, and other operational system procedures are followed during delivery of assigned projects.

Accountabilities include:

  • Use technical knowledge to plan and co-ordinate all resources and works necessary to ensure assigned projects achieve scope, time, quality, cost and other targets.
  • Maintain effective liaison and communication with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan, allocate, supervise, and coordinate work activities of team members within assigned projects, including provision of employee performance and behaviour management principles and approaches.
  • Contribute to the preparation of tenders and estimates through the provision of expert advice.
  • Regularly measure completed works to monitor budget performance and submit progress payment claims.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions

  • Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
  • Applicants must possess a current, valid Queensland "C" class driver's licence or equivalent.
  • You will be required to travel within the North Queensland Operations coverage area which covers Townsville, Ingham, Ayr, Home Hill and west to Cloncurry, Mt Isa and Karumba to undertake activities for varying periods of time. You will be entitled to expenses and allowances for such travel.

Desirable requirements:

  • A Diploma in Project Management and accredited Frontline Management qualification.
  • Previous experience in the road construction or maintenance industry, specifically Structures.

  • Apply a high level of knowledge and experience to Structures Management with experience in construction and maintenance principles for road drainage including bridges, culverts, and pipes.
