Within the organisation we prioritise reflective practice, structured supervision and collaborative decision-making so practitioners can manage complex work within a supportive team environment.
The Work You Will Step Into
This is frontline domestic and family violence practice supporting adult victim-survivors across Cairns, Mareeba and Atherton.
You will support survivors through:
Crisis intake and structured risk assessment
Safety planning and case management
Court support within the Domestic Violence Court
Embedded work with Queensland Police Service
Counselling and advocacy
Community education and group work
This work often takes place in police stations, courts and crisis environments, where timely safety planning is essential.
Your work will involve:
Applying structured risk assessment and safety planning
Providing clear and informed advocacy
Navigating complex systems while maintaining a client-centred approach
Maintaining professional boundaries while building trust
This role requires sound judgement, emotional regulation and confidence in crisis environments.
Induction is phased and supportive, allowing you to learn CRDVS frameworks and court processes before managing a full caseload.
You will have access to:
Monthly internal supervision
External supervision every two months
Debriefing support
Protected team time for case discussion
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Skilled in advocacy and professional documentation
Knowledgeable about power, coercion and control
Able to remain calm when clients are distressed
Committed to supervision and reflective practice
Relevant tertiary qualifications in behavioural or social sciences and DFV experience are required.
Salary: $100,000 – $105,000 plus superannuation (SCHADS Level 5).
