About this Opportunity

As the Principal Development Planner, you will lead complex development assessments, provide high-level technical planning advice, and guide a team of planners in delivering exceptional service to the community and development industry.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Leadership
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of planning staff and foster a positive team culture.
  • Contribute to operational improvements.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects aligned with SLAs and legislation.
  • Promote a safe, healthy and inclusive workplace.
Technical
  • Assess and determine complex development applications.
  • Provide written and verbal advice to stakeholders.
  • Review assessments for consistency and quality.
  • Provide specialist input into strategic planning and policy.
  • Manage industry relationships and negotiate outcomes.
Other
  • Other duties as directed within the scope of the role.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills
  • Tertiary qualification in Urban & Regional Planning (Degree preferred; Associate Degree accepted).
  • Current QLD C-Class Driver Licence.
  • Extensive statutory and strategic planning experience.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Strong relationship and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • High-level communication, report writing and negotiation abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and corporate systems.
Desirable Attributes
  • Local government planning experience.
  • Eligibility for PIA membership.
  • Qualifications in leadership or business management.
