About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will support the company's financial operations, including payroll, cash flow, tax compliance, and general accounting administration. You will work closely with the team to ensure smooth financial management across the business.

This role is perfect for someone looking to grow their accounting career while taking responsibility for day-to-day accounting and payroll functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and lodge tax obligations including BAS (GST), FBT, Payroll Tax and PAYG

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, financial procedures, and regulatory requirements

  • Bank reconciliations and cash flow forecasting

  • Month-end accruals and journal entries

  • Payroll processing, payroll journals, and labour reporting

  • Experience with Xero payroll system is essential for payroll processing tasks

  • Balance sheet reconciliations

  • Prepare and analyse monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports

  • Assist with property and asset management administration

  • Manage debtors, creditors, and fixed asset registers

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a similar accounting role

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or related discipline

  • CPA or CA qualification (completed or currently in progress) - preferred but not essential

  • Proficiency in Xero

  • Microsoft Excel proficiency is required including advanced functions and data analysis capabilities

  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills

  • Ability to manage deadlines and communicate clearly

  • Full working rights in Australia

  • Driver's Licence
