Your new role
As the Financial Accountant, you will be part of a cohesive Finance Team of 19, which encompasses rates, procurement, and financial services. You will join the Financial Management sub‑team, working closely with two Accountants, a Graduate Accountant, and a Finance Officer. The team’s key priority is maintaining a high standard of financial excellence across the organisation, ensuring strong compliance, clear reporting, and continuous improvement in financial practices.
Your role will include:
- Supporting financial accounting, reporting, and compliance functions
- Assisting with the preparation of statutory reports and year‑end processes
- Providing high‑quality financial insights to support decision‑making
- Working with TechnologyOne (TechOne) to enhance process efficiency and system utilisation
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of financial services across the organisation
- Supporting the expansion of financial management capability, including emerging business partnering initiatives
This is a key role within a high‑performing and supportive finance environment, offering the opportunity to take on broader responsibilities as the organisation grows.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will bring:
- CA/CPA qualification (or progress toward) preferred
- Experience in local government or a similar regulated environment
- Strong technical accounting capability across financial reporting and compliance
- Exposure to TechOne (highly desirable)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a collaborative team
- A proactive, solutions‑focused approach and willingness to contribute to continuous improvement.
Candidates with strong financial experience but without full qualifications will also be considered.
