Pentacon Pty Ltd, a privately owned civil construction company, has established a robust presence in the construction industry since its inception in 2012. With strategic offices in Mackay, Brisbane and Gladstone, we specialise in delivering exceptional services, from urban renewal to remote civil projects.

We’re now on the lookout for a detail-driven Accounts Payable Officer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being part of a supportive, close-knit finance team.

What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll be at the heart of Pentacon’s finance operations, making sure our vendors are paid on time, our accounts stay accurate, and our systems run smoothly. Every day will be different, but you can expect to:

• Accurately process a high volume of invoices and payments, keeping everything on track and on time.

• Check that invoices and purchase orders are approved correctly in line with our Delegated Authority Matrix.

• Handle bank and credit card reconciliations with precision.

• Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on any discrepancies.

• Support the month-end process with accruals, prepayments, and reporting.

• Maintain and update vendor masterfiles in our ERP system.

• Identify opportunities to improve processes and make things work smarter.

• Provide training and support to team members and internal stakeholders.

• Work closely with the wider finance team and business units to meet company objectives.

• Build positive relationships with vendors – answering queries, resolving disputes, and keeping communication clear and professional.

What we’re looking for

• Around 3+ years in Accounts Payable or similar finance role

• Experience working in a high-volume or fast-paced environment

• Strong eye for detail and a proactive, can-do approach

• Great communication skills with a team-first mindset
